WowWeeの新ロボット「ミスター･パーソナリティー」

　WowWeeのテレプレゼンス･ロボット「Rovio」はその後、12月に発売が延期になったようだが、同社がひと足先に別のロボットを発売した。名前は「Mr. Personality」。身長55cm、体重2.3kgのロボットの価格は約300ドル。リモコン付き。ここで動画を見ることができる。今年のCESで発表したモデルと違って、製品版は顔が液晶スクリーンに置き換わっている。

　製品説明から抜粋すると、

「Like a cartoon character morphed into 3D, he can tell jokes, read your daily fortune, and even answer questions about your future. RS Mr. Personality’s full-color LCD screen displays his personality with animated and synchronized facial features.」（漫画のキャラクターが3次元に登場したように、ジョークを言ったり、日々の運勢を占ったり、ユーザーの未来に関する質問に答えることができる。ミスター･パーソナリティはフルカラー液晶ディスプレーによって顔の表情が変えられる。）

「If something suddenly comes very close to his face, RS Mr. Personality will respond with a comment.」（顔のすぐ近くに何かが来ると、ミスター･パーソナリティーは何かコメントを発する。）

「Mr. Personality plays a greeting and / or displays an image when he detects motion or when mode is activated.」（ミスター･パーソナリティーは周囲に動きを検知すると、あいさつしてディスプレーに画像を映し出す。）

「Record a voice memo and instruct RS Mr. Personality to play it back.」（音声録音・再生ができる。）

搭載センサーは以下の通り。

1 x sonic sensor: For noise detection.

4 x IR sensors:  For detecting and avoiding obstacles, flinch response, and Greet Mode.

1 x light sensor: To detect and respond to changes in ambient light levels.

1 x tilt sensor: Lets him know when he has fallen over, or when he has been picked up.

　ロボットの「パーソナリティー」をユーザーが変えられるとおもしろいのに。

I'd love to know what people think of the Wowee robots and Pleo. Personally, I hate them. I think they're ugly and of low quality.

Ok Norri ^_^ These are some of my favorites, mostly they are from Japan because in Japan, special care and attention is made to their appearance.

1.QRIO (I'm so sad he's gone... -_-)
2.Asimo
3.Robots of Tomotaka Takahashi (Chroino, FT, Neon, VisiON, etc)
4.Toyota PR
5.HRP series (AIST) especially 2m Choromet
6.Mahru III (KIST / Samsung) from Korea
7.Emiew-2 (Hitachi)
8.PaPeRo
9.Hubo (KAIST) from Korea
10.ACM-R5 (HFRL)

You may be surprised, because I am Canadian. I think more people than you might suspect love Japanese style robots better than the American versions. Afterall, my generation born in the (late 70s and early 80s) grew up watching Japanese cartoons like Transformers and Astro Boy, and played videogames like Rock Man.
